Youth Department

We are so excited to be starting a Bnei Akiva Snif here is Long Beach.  Our Roshei Snif—Amalia and Saadia—will be joining us twice a month throughout the school year to help us.  For those of you unfamiliar with Bnei Akiva, it is a worldwide Religious Zionist Youth Movement whose mission is to inspire and empower Jewish Youth with a deep commitment to the Jewish people, the Land of Israel, and the Torah through a wide variety of informal and experiential educational programs.

These guiding principles were established to guide the actions and deeds of each Chaver (member) of Bnei Akiva. These principles reflect the values and beliefs held dear by Bnei Akiva members worldwide, and are incorporated into the educational programming conducted by BANY/NJ.

The Chaver/Chavera:

1. Is loyal to the Torah of G-D, His people, Land and Language 2. Sets aside definite periods for the study of Torah 3. Loves work and hates idleness 4. Sees the future of the Jewish people in Eretz Yisrael 5. Is kind and courteous to all 6. Acts as a brother or sister to chaverim and is prepared to assist them at all times 7. Obeys his/her parents, teachers and leaders 8. Is pure in thought and action 9. Is truthful 10. Loves nature 11. Is always cheerful and pleasant 12. Is thrifty 13. Looks after his/her health

All high school students are invited to a Friday night Tish at 8:30 PM at our house 130 West Beech Street.  This 1 ½ - 2 hour program will be a small get together for current HS students (public school , day school or yeshiva) who are interested in learning more about Bnei Akiva and possibly becoming madrichim. It will be a fun opportunity to learn about Bnei Akiva, develop their leadership skills, catch up and nosh.

Shabbos morning at 10:30 am Sarah Austin and Eliana Spiess will be running a mini minyan at the Young Israel for toddlers through grade 3.

Shabbos afternoon from 3:45-mincha please join Amalia, Saadia and the madrichim for SNIF, a fun, informative program for kids from grades 2-6.

As this week is our first week, we are still feeling our way.  Worldwide Bnei Akiva is broken up by grade so in order to best determine our programming, can you please let me know which of your kids would be interested in participating and what their current grade is.  I realize that 7th and 8th grades are currently not included on Shabbos, typically these grades have activities during the week, we are trying to figure out how many kids there are in these grades so we can come up with something for them on Shabbos too.
