Rabbi Binyamin Silver, a proud alumnus of Ner Israel Rabbinical College,  received Semicha from Rabbi Moshe Shternbuch, executive director of the rabbinical court of Jerusalem and Rabbi Nathan Greenblatt, Av Beis Din of Memphis, Tennessee. In addition to Semicha, Rabbi Silver holds a Masters in Education, a J.D., an LL.M. in taxation, and is admitted to the NY and DC bars.

Rabbi Silver began his rabbinic career as a rabbinic intern to Rabbi Wakslak Z”L at the Young Israel of Long Beach.  In 2013 , together with his wife, Estee, he moved to Silver Spring, Maryland, to assume the assistant Rabbi position at Young Israel Shomrai Emunah, a 500+ member synagogue. Under his leadership, Young Israel Shomrai Emunah developed a vibrant young professional community that has substantially impacted the Silver Spring area.

Alongside his rabbinic duties, Rabbi Silver is a practicing attorney. Through his concurrent involvement with sacred and secular, Rabbi Silver has developed a distinctive outlook and has been credited with presenting a fresh and vibrant rabbinic leadership that is attractive to an educated, intelligent, and diverse audience.

Rabbi Silver is looking forward to a successful partnership with the members of YILB and the broader Long Beach community. He hopes to build upon the wonderful work and legacy of Rabbi Chaim Wakslak Z”L, and to help ensure that YILB continues to be a vibrant, inspiring, and unique kehillah. In his free time, Rabbi Silver enjoys travel, studying history, and attempting to play the stock market.

Rabbi Silver is married to Estee Silver (nee Lewkowicz). Estee grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa, and later moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota. As a rabbi’s daughter, Estee was raised in an open communal home and enjoys continuing that in her own home as a rebbetizen.

After high school, Estee studied in Israel for two years and earned her B.A in Education. Estee attended nursing school at the Johns Hopkins University, taught Judaic Studies in Beth Tfiloh Dahan Community School and has been active in several outreach organizations. Estee has also spent several summers volunteering as a nurse and counselor at Chai Lifeline’s Camp Simcha.

Estee specializes in reproductive endocrinology and infertility and is currently working at the country’s largest fertility clinic. Through her expertise, she is privileged to support, assist, and guide couples through this intimate process. Estee is also a founder of the Greater Washington Shidduch Initiative, and is actively involved in meeting singles and helping them find their match.

Together, the Silvers enjoy hosting Shabbos meals and connecting with people through shiurim, social events, and simchas. The Silvers are blessed with three adorable and rambunctious boys, Gavi, Herschel and Izzy. The Silvers look forward to joining the YILB family and making Long Beach their home.
